Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Course Melbourne

RIIHAN301E Operate Elevating Work Platform (EWP) - boom lift course delivered in Port Melbourne, is designed to give participants the knowledge and skills to operate elevating work platforms which are not classified as requiring a high risk work (HRW) licence.

If you need to operate lifts that have a capacity beyond 11m, you will need to complete TLILIC0005 - Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more).

After successfully completing this nationally-recognised course you will be trained and competent to operate:

  • EWP under 11m / Boom Lift
  • Scissor Lift
  • Vertical Lift*

*The unit RIIHAN301E covers the operation of a range of elevating work platforms under 11m. Our course will provide participants with skills and knowledge to operate elevating work platforms that are transferable to any EWP under 11m. The specific plant used at Short Courses Australia are boom lift (BL) and scissor lift (SL).

All Australian work sites have an obligation to induct new workers on the plant they are required to use. However, we do recommend that workers check with their employer(s) as to the applicability of any training related to on-site plant and equipment, as well as any site-specific training requirements.

Competent students will receive a Statement of Attainment in the unit of competence RIIHAN301E Operate Elevating Work Platform (EWP).

Please be aware that “Yellow Cards” are issued by an industry body outside of the VET system. You do not require a Yellow Card to operate an EWP or scissor lift. This is a common misconception.

"Darren was a great trainer. You can tell he?s been in the traffic control industry for a long time because he?s extremely knowledgeable and brings a lot of real-world experience into the course. What I really appreciated was his strong emphasis on the realities of the job and what can go wrong if procedures aren?t followed properly. It made the training practical and easy to understand rather than just theory. He?s also a top bloke and makes the course engaging. I?ve already referred a few of my work colleagues to do their traffic control course with him and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get into the industry."
