JOB CAMP FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Short Courses Australia RTO 41261 delivers JOB CAMP across Sydney & Regional NSW.

JOB CAMP is facilitated by way of incursion and offers secondary school students access to:

  • Vocational skills training and compliance certificates that are pre-requisites for employment;
  • Industry tours of local nearby organisations;
  • Work readiness from local employers.

Short Courses Australia support young people to break down barriers to employment and to help them make the successful transition into paid employment easier by providing them access to VET whilst still in school.

Supporting Local Business

JOB CAMP is designed to support local business and councils.

Without exception, all businesses and councils across NSW are reporting a shortage of hospitality and construction staff. JOB CAMP provides a foundational skill base for young people, and gives them the confidence to apply for roles.

JOB CAMP also gives students a taster of their local hospitality and construction industry and increases their awareness of opportunities, and career pathways available to them.

To that end, JOB CAMP sets for itself the following objectives:

  • 30% of students that complete to go on to get a casual / part time job in industry;
  • 20% of students that complete the program go on to more long-term roles in the industry;
  • All students to grow their local network by meeting at least two industry representatives.

Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) Grants Program

Students in regional areas and from low-SES backgrounds can struggle to both find trainers close by that can deliver this training, and pay for it.

RIEP funding is available on a case by case basis for this program for students, if the application can demonstrate that JOB CAMP removes the barriers that might prevent students from commencing in the hospitality and construction industry.

Short Courses Australia is a Smart & Skilled Provider approved training provider for the RIEP Grants Program, (Legal Org 509982).

      "The barista training course was a really fun experience: we learned about different coffees and how to make them, how to work the coffee machine and also practiced how to do latte art. You get to drink the coffee that you make too, and it?s helpful if you want to get a job. Only downside is that lots of coffee and milk is wasted but I guess it can?t be helped"

    14 January 2026

      "Very helpful course and engaging experience that gave me insight on how to make different varieties of coffee. We got to drink the coffee we made which was fun and it tasted good. Hopefully adds something appealing to my resume. The ot reaso. For 4 stars is because a lot of coffee and milk is wasted."

      "I really enjoyed the coffee-making session with Short Courses Australia. The trainer was friendly and knowledgeable, and the hands-on practice was great. I learned how to use the machine, steam milk, and even try some latte art. Perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to improve their barista skills. Highly recommend!"
